The 405 was introduced back in the year 2000. After a couple of years in production, it even started being equipped with Mercedes’s famous  BlueTec technology. This means that the emissions were reduced even further.

This truck has a smaller engine than the regular Unimog 437 but is quite powerful and it is more budget-oriented as well. Of course, the Unimog 405 will also save you more money on your fuel budget. It should be noted that this truck is also available with a long wheelbase configuration.

The models of this truck that you can find on the used truck market are the Unimog U200, U300, U400, and U500. The U200 is the smallest model here in terms of its wheelbase, while the U300 comes with an extended one. The highlight of the U500 is its higher power output.

But what if you’re looking for something even smaller and rarer? There’s also the Unimog U20 which was released back in 2006. For the first time in the Unimog’s history, there was a cab over design, so the bonnet was ditched.

Overall, the Unimog 405 is quite underrated because many people tend to go for cheaper and older models of the Unimog. However, there are many features inside it that make it a lot more luxurious than its competition.
