Land Rover Defender Td5 130 camper van. Owned since 2018 and converted over winter2018/19. Mechanically standard with the exception of a sensible engine remap. Land Rover Defender Td5 130 camper van. Owned since 2018 and converted over winter2018/19.
Mechanically standard with the exception of a sensible engine remap. This was done prior to my ownership so I have no details of this but it has made the camper much more comfortable on hills and motorways than a standard Td5 would.
Vehicle was a utility workshop vehicle the rear pod is aluminium and composite panels now with bonded ply and carpet covering inside. Utility spec includes a very heavy duty winch which is fully functional and is fitted with 12mm synthetic winch rope. All axles and gearbox casings are higher level vented which along with the engine snorkel allow wading at a very useful depth should you need to.
Serviced by a local specialist every year and passed MOT this year again with no advisories, next due 08/02/25. Chassis and bulkhead are immaculate with the chassis having been re coated with Lanoguard three months ago. Other details include:
2x front seats plus cubby box
Removable mono steering wheel with optimill Center and locking boss.
4 x BF Goodrich km02 mud terrains with plenty tread
Camper pod has a skylight, two opening side windows and rear personnel door plus fully opening rear doors. It is fitted with a Tufftrek 2.5m 270 degree batwing awning plus a full set of sides.
It has a split charge relay and 140ah leisure battery in the rear assisted by a 100w solar panel on the roof. There is an Eberspache diesel heater with wall mounted thermostat. This is fed direct from the vehicle fuel tank.
Furniture is all lightweight ply and appliances include dometic CRX50 fridge, dometic twin gas hob and sink unit with 10l clean and dirty water tanks. A steel gas locker is also fitted with gas drop out. The table takes seconds to put up and take down.
All storage at the headboard end of the pod is 400mm deep and is on top of the storage under the sink/hob and under the seating area. The seating is 6ft long and pulls out to create a double bed.
The is a link above to a walk around video done last year, I have since moved the spare wheel from the roof cage to a mounting on the rear door but otherwise the vehicle is unchanged.
