About the Unimog 437

The 437 Unimog was introduced back in 1988. It was a replacement for the outgoing Unimog 425 (and the longer 435); a consumer favorite to say the least. So, the 437 had quite the shoes to fill and it did despite carrying the same exterior.

On the outside, the Mercedes Unimog 437 looks similar to the iconic Unimog 424 (that debuted in 1976) as it comes with its box-like shape. The truck has been offered in a whopping 28 different models. There’s no wonder why it sold in such huge numbers over the years.

The 437 has always featured a powerful engine mated to an 8-speed transmission. As far as Unimogs are concerned, it has always featured the highest figures in terms of its power and torque outputs, plus its weight ratings. As expected, it is an insanely good offroader.

The 437.1 was the first model of this series and it was produced till 2003. Right now, the Unimog 437.4 is the highlight of this heavy-duty range. Its exterior, interior, and powertrains have received some changes. It is also a lot more efficient than all its predecessors.

Its models are the Unimog U3000, U4000, and U5000. They differ in terms of their total GVWR, power, and some other features. If you dig deep into the used truck market, you can even find a 6x6 Unimog truck built by Merc themselves. It is truly the best choice for an expedition truck.
