Expedition trucks are some of the most unique vehicles on the planet. But what if you turn a military truck into an expedition camper? This is a possibility with the FMTV/LMTV trucks. There are many reasons why you should get an LMTV overland truck for your excursions.
FMTV/LMTV Overland Truck
Overlanding is a dangerous sport if you’re on a tough trail. This is because of how incredibly tough and challenging mother nature can be. As a result, you’re always bound to do better with a stronger truck. There are many durable trucks out there, but how many of them can survive chemical attacks?
In comes the LMTV expedition vehicle; usually a decommissioned American military truck that has been converted to an expedition truck. This bad boy was built for the battlefield and it has the US Army’s seal of reliability on it – so even the roughest terrains shouldn’t be able to put a scratch on it.
The catch is that if you get one of these trucks, you do need to make sure that it has been built well. The engine should be good enough to work with the frame to do justice to the high payload capacity. The M1078 overland truck is an excellent LMTV expedition vehicle example.
